Pieris Japonica Bonfire Evergreen Shrub Approx 30cm Tall 1L Lily of the Valley

🌿 Striking Evergreen Foliage
Pieris japonica ‘Bonfire' is a compact, evergreen shrub known for its dramatic foliage colour. New growth emerges in vivid fiery red tones, gradually maturing to glossy deep green—creating a stunning contrast that lasts throughout the seasons.

🔥 Brilliant Red New Growth
One of the standout features of ‘Bonfire' is its intense red young leaves, which appear in spring and often again later in the season. This makes it an eye-catching focal point in borders, containers, or shaded garden spaces.

🌸 Delicate Spring Flowers
In early to mid-spring, clusters of small, bell-shaped white flowers appear, similar to lily-of-the-valley. These blooms add elegance and subtle fragrance while complementing the bold foliage.

🍃 Compact & Slow Growing
A naturally neat and slow-growing shrub, typically reaching around 1-1.2 metres in height and spread. Ideal for smaller gardens or where space is limited.

🌤️ Best in Partial Shade
Thrives in partial shade, though it can tolerate sun if the soil stays moist. Excellent for sheltered positions and woodland-style planting.

🌱 Acid-Loving Plant
Requires moist, well-drained, acidic soil. Perfect for ericaceous beds or containers using specialist compost. Avoid alkaline or chalky soils.

❄️ Hardy in the UK
Fully hardy across most of the UK (RHS Hardiness Rating H5), coping well with typical winter temperatures.

🐝 Pollinator Friendly
Early-season flowers provide an important nectar source for bees and other pollinators.

🪴 Perfect For:

⚠️ Care Notes:

• Mulch annually to retain moisture and maintain acidity
• Light pruning after flowering if needed
